The full name of AMH is Anti-Mullerian Hormone. It is a protein hormone that the granulosa cells mostly make in the small follicles, which are those tiny pouches that house eggs in the ovary. The granulosa cell aids in the development of the eggs in the female ovary. These cells primarily produce the most AMH during the preantral and tiny antral phases of the follicles' development. AMH production starts to decline as the follicles get bigger. The quantity of AMH still being produced is practically nonexistent after a follicle reaches a size of 8 mm. This implies that AMH levels are stable from day to day since preantral and tiny antral follicles are always present in the ovaries. Because of this, a woman's cycle can be tested for AMH on any day to determine how many eggs are still in her ovary. Low AMH levels are a sign that a woman's ovaries are developing fewer preantral follicles. Therefore, the AMH level mainly gives information about the quantity of eggs in the ovary. A high AMH level indicates that you have more eggs, while a low AMH level indicates that you have less eggs in your ovary.
